Literacy block

Our Literacy program is delivered through a dedicated two-hour Literacy Block that provides students with explicit, structured and engaging instruction in all areas of literacy.

Aligned with the Victorian Department of Education’s Phonics Plus approach and the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0), our teaching incorporates all elements of the literacy block, including phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, oral language and writing.

We explicitly teach the “Big 6” of reading — oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension — ensuring students develop strong foundational literacy skills and the confidence to become capable, independent readers and writers.
